Welcome to Oklahoma!

Last week concluded another fun week on the road. The WAPT hosted their 4th event for the season out in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. This blog may feel more like a day-by-day walkthrough, but that is only because each day came with its own set of notable memories. Well, except for the first and final day of the trip. Those days consisted of 12 hours in a car. Nothing too exciting there haha.

My mom and I arrived in Broken Arrow on Saturday evening and got settled into host housing. Little did I know that I would be leaving that house in 6 days with a new set of parents out in Oklahoma. Simply the greatest host parents in the whole wide world to say the least.

Ok, so, Sunday. Practice round day! Tons of fun. The day was started so well when I got to go to church with my fellow WAPT player and bestest bud, Haley. And to make things even better, I got to meet the beautiful Sarah Young in person! For those who don't know, I have been in a bible study group for the past 7-ish months. It is apart of Global Golf Ministry, and Sarah holds a weekly zoom meeting from her home on Thursday nights. It's such a sweet time, and girls across the country who are in both college and pro golf get together for an hour to study the word and talk about Jesus together. Long story short, I had only talked to Sarah virtually, so when I walked into church and saw Sarah (she i a Tulsa resident), my heart was so so full. Great start to the day. Now, after church it was time for my practice round. Another fun time. I got to play my practice round with one of my best tour friends (and close friend in life) Mikayla Fitzpatrick. Golf is always fun, but playing with friends is just the ultimate cherry on top. Then, after the practice round, the WAPT Bible study had their first meeting at Sarah's house. I could spend so much time recapping this one moment, but I'll summarize by saying it was the best pizza dinner with the sweetest company. No better way to start the week.

Monday! - Alison played her first pro-am! The day right before the official start-day of the tournament, the WAPT holds a pro-am event. There are limited spots for pro's, and these spots are mainly selected by standing with the tour. And since this is my rookie year, I have no standings on the tour. Therefore, these days are typically just an extra practice day. However, there were some last-minute drop outs, and I was asked to step in. I played with 3 super fun guys who own an auto action there in Tulsa. There business was named Z66, and I couldn't have asked for a better group to get paired up with in my first pro-am.

Tuesday - first round of the tourney! Back to what I said before, playing golf is fun, but getting to do it with friends is elite. And as fate would have it, Haley (the girl I went to church with and one the greatest friends I have made on tour) got put into the same group as me for the first two days! Golf wise, the first day was ok. I shot +2. Not the best, but I felt like my game was in a good spot. I was hitting the ball well overall. The few mistakes I made the first round could easily be corrected in the second.

Wednesday - golf will break your heart haha. The second round was a tough one. Just a stack of bogies. I wasn't really miss-hitting the ball, the putts where solid, but it just wasn't my day. And I'll be honest, that round hurt. A lot. It was hard to swallow missing the cut knowing I had set myself up well the first day to play the weekend, and then, to no result of bad swings or tragically errants shots, I did not have a good round. But hey, this dream is a journey. And only God knows the true path, so I have to learn to trust where the cards fall, learn from it, and come back stronger next time. Now, Wednesday wasn't a total sad day, I promise! There was the bright side that Haley made her first cut as a pro! She and I are both rookies, and we have enjoyed getting to celebrate milestones together. And when I say celebrate, I mean it. That night, my host parents, my mom, Haley, and I went to a local ice cream shop. Haley and I accidentally ordered the biggest ice cream Sundays known to man kind, and we ate every bite hahah!

Friday- Skipping ahead a little bit so I can finish before you guys get tired of reading! Final day of the tourney. And even though I wasn't playing, it was SUCH a fun day. With a birdie on the 18th hole, I got to watch my friend Mikayla Fitzpatrick pull out her first WAPT win! And yes, I was that crazy friend that ran out and poured water on her after the victory hahaha.

So yea, that's the story! Oklahoma was a blast. Golf is good. I'm just trusting the process and God's timing. I can feel my game getting better every time I play. This was also such a packed week of sweet company and fellowship with people. Such a great time. I am now home in Atlanta for a week to do some laundry, a little practice, and repack the bags. My mom and I will be heading out again on Saturday for a two-week trip on the road. I will be playing in Mississippi and then Texas right after. But as always, I'll send out an update on those when they come hehe.

If you've made it this far in the blog, you're a champ. I apologize for the lengthiness this week. I just felt the need to share more because this week made me feel so blessed and loved. And all glory to God for the ability I have to be on this journey!

p.s. Please enjoy the pics and fun videos from this week too. And shoutout to my awesome caddy and mom for finally getting a birdie putt on video haha! love ya momma! ;)
