Road to Recovery - Pt.1
Happy Tuesday!
I wanted to catch everyone up on the progress with the broken foot and what life has looked like these past three weeks.
The first two weeks were relatively the most annoying. Having to use crutches 24/7 gets really old, really fast – haha! Thankfully, during the third week, my foot began tolerating pressure and I was able to slowly transition from crutches to a walking boot. I also had updated x-rays at the two-week mark. The scans showed my foot is still stable and healing in place which was a huge positive. In terms of the crack in the bone, it still looked the same size as before, if not a little bigger. The doctor said it was nothing alarming. She said the scans can look worse, but it’s simply the bone making space for the new bone to grow. Overall, the visit was positive, and I am still on track for a six-week recovery.
My overall time at home has also had many upsides. My 25th birthday occurred on Saturday, April 13th,, and I felt so loved and celebrated. The night before my birthday, Alex surprised me by flying out to Georgia and showing up at my house. Then, my mom was an angel and threw a last-minute surprise party the day of. In honor of my obsession with line dancing, the party had the cutest western theme. I was surrounded by sweet family, friends from church, and my mom even arranged for two of my best childhood friends to be there! It was a birthday I will cherish forever!
Alex had a gap in his schedule between work and responsibilities, so he stayed in Georgia for about a week. It was such an unexpected joy having him around. With his help, I got out of the house nearly every day. We mostly went to the golf course which was fun despite not being able to participate. I loved being back in the fresh air and sunshine and watching him play. Sadly for me, Alex flew home to Texas yesterday, but excitingly, he does have a fun week ahead. He is playing in a professional tournament in Dallas! So, starting tomorrow, I have blocked off my busy schedule to watch a scoreboard and be a good cheerleader for the rest of the week. :)
And on that note, you are all caught up on Alison’s Road to Recovery! My bone is stable and slowly healing, I celebrated my 25th birthday, I transitioned to using a walking boot for minimal activity, and I got a week of fun with my best friend. Coming up, I am scheduled for more x-rays, and I will be sure to share the updates from that report. Praying the scans will continue to show positive healing!
As always, thanks to everyone for all the prayer and encouraging messages. I won't pretend and say it’s been a total breeze. I really do miss playing golf, I miss my tour friends, and I miss activity. However, I am grabbing any little thing I can do to make the most of my time at home. I’m reading books, working with my mental coach, and spending extra quality time with God. I know that this experience is for my good, and I look forward to sharing the goodness with everyone down the road!
