The Last Leg in Louisiana

Well, I would prefer to not confess that I’m writing this update on an earlier flight back to Arizona. But hey, sometimes I have to remind myself that a win isn’t always in the same form as how the world labels it.

This week I competed in my 2nd WAPT event. It was so memorable and truly a win when reflecting on the big picture. I don’t think missing the cut will ever get “easier”, and I’m ok with that. I’m ok with the disappointment that comes when I don’t execute to my full potential. However, disappointment does not mean discouragement. If I continue to play this game that I love, there will be plenty more MC’s in my future. For now, I know my game is trending in the right direction, and I’m excited. I’m excited to keep trying, to keep growing, and to keep learning. The disappointments help make the breakthroughs that much sweeter.

Moreover, I do have some really fun highlights from the week! First, the tournament was hosted at a casino, and nearly all the players were staying on-site. The tournament hosted two super fun dinner parties and it allowed me the chance to meet more girls and make more friends on the tour! I also can say I have eaten alligator haha!

The second day of the golf tournament (Thursday) just so happened to fall on my birthday as well. And although my golf game wasn’t what I had hoped it would be, it still turned out to be one of my most happy and memorable birthdays. The second dinner of the tournament was on Thursday as well, and my sweet new friends basically turned the dinner into a big birthday party. One girl searched the entire hotel until she found a candle, while the other spoke with the head director of the tour. Next thing you know, I am holding an ice cream cone with a candle while the entire tour is singing happy birthday to me. That was the most people I’ve had sing happy birthday to me in my life. I will remember that sweet moment forever.

Lastly, I have to mention that I had another great week with my mom on the bag. I’m totally biased, but I really think she gets the gold star for her role as a mom. She puts up with me as a player, loves me as her daughter, and encourages me so well. And while I am on a plane ride home, she is knocking out an 11 hour drive back to Atlanta. She does it for me, and I couldn’t do it without her. Thanks, Mom!

All in all, what a fun two weeks it has been! Now time to go home, rest, reset, and get ready for Oklahoma!

Thank you, God, for this life I get to live!
